CAREERS

Commanders and staffs must be properly prepared to respond to weapons system and C4I infrastructure cyber attacks, physical attacks, natural disasters, and system failures. During the critical phases of battle, time is of the essence and battle management team response must be rapid and appropriate. Disaster avoidance and recovery planning, rehearsals and battle drills are the best way to ensure rapid and appropriate response. The national security community as well as commercial critical infrastructure providers urgently need an accurate, easy-to-use continuity of operations and disaster recovery and rehearsal tool to visualize, plan and rehearse the most likely and most dangerous scenarios before they actually occur. DARRT provides this virtual capability.

DARRT provides:
• On-demand virtual disaster avoidance and recovery rehearsal
• Wide variety of attack, natural disaster, and systems failure scenarios

Examples of DARRT scenarios include: denial of service attack, Internet worm, physical attack, and natural disaster that destroys a large portion of network infrastructure. Managers are able to visualize the possible effects and explore the pros and cons of various courses of action and rehearse selected responses to potential disasters.

There is currently a large untapped global military and commercial need for modeling and simulation capabilities to support Continuity of Operations Planning and disaster response rehearsals. In today’s environment, system outages are often extended or exacerbated by poorly trained managers and operators. DARRT is urgently needed to prepare network management teams to respond rapidly and appropriately to threats against the infrastructure.
